Upcoming Conference - New Frontiers: Open Source Evidence

Yvonne McDermott Rees

On 25 November, 2023, we will be holding a full-day conference, New Frontiers: Open Source Evidence, at The Inner Temple. We will explore the different types of open source and user-generated evidence, including social media, electronic and rap evidence, their authentication and admissibility, and how they have been used in the courtroom globally and in the UK. Issues of accountability and disinformation will be examined, as well as the likely impact of AI on user-generated evidence in criminal proceedings.

Featuring keynote speaker Eliot Higgins (Bellingcat), and panel chairs Prof Yvonne McDermott Rees (TRUE project) and Her Excellency Judge Korner CMG KC. Panellists include representatives from the Global Legal Action Network, WITNESS, the Centre for Information Resilience and the International Criminal Court. Confirmed speakers include Alexa Koenig, Alice Liefgreen, Benjamin Strick, Brenda Hollis, Dearbhla Minogue, Helen Malcolm QC, Raquel Vazquez Llorente, Siobhan Allen, Judge Bossa, and many more.

The conference will be held between 9:00am and 5:30pm on 25th November, 2023, with a live-streaming option for those who cannot attend in person. It is free of charge and open to all. For more details, please click here.
