We are excited to announce the launch of the TRUE Database on User-generated Evidence. This first iteration (published 2025) covers domestic courts. A separate database of key international court decisions will be published later.
The TRUE Database is a one-stop-shop for documents from international criminal proceedings (from both domestic and international courts) that have introduced user-generated evidence (UGE) in prosecuting core international crimes (genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression) and involving charges for terrorism and membership in a terrorist organisation.
The database bundles material that is already publicly available and currently includes judgments on core international crimes before domestic courts. The database also contains a number of cases involving charges for membership in terrorist organisations or terrorist offences.
The TRUE database is a resource for States, civil society organisations, researchers, and any individual interested in the topic of UGE in international criminal proceedings and domestic prosecutions of international crimes. The database published in June 2025 is our complete record of relevant domestic cases prosecuting atrocity crimes using user-generated evidence.
The research for the database is ongoing. Please reach out to us (trueprojectswansea@gmail.com) if you have a document that you believe should be included in the database.
