TRUE Database

The TRUE database is a one-stop-shop for documents from international criminal proceedings (from both domestic and international courts) that have introduced user-generated evidence (UGE) in prosecuting core international crimes (genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression) and involving charges for terrorism and membership in a terrorist organisation.

The database consists of two datasets: one covering domestic courts, and a separate dataset of key decisions from the International Criminal Court (ICC). The database bundles material that is already publicly available. The TRUE database is a resource for States, civil society organisations, researchers, and any individual interested in the topic of UGE in international criminal proceedings and domestic prosecutions of international crimes.

Viewers can navigate between the domestic cases and ICC cases through the tabs at the top of the database. Viewers can further scroll vertically or horizontally to explore the database, expanding fields to view more information, and sorting by filters like country, media type, or method of authentication.

The database builds on the support of users who submit or draw our attention to judgments which introduced UGE. Please email trueprojectswansea@gmail.com to submit a document, or information on a case that could be relevant.
